Western Communications has developed communications systems that allow our customers a wider range of communications at a lower cost.

SMR -Special Mobile Radio 800 Mhz. Trunked Two-Way Radio Systems
This system combines the best of two-way radio's ability to talk to your whole talkgroup at once, and the convenience of a mobile telephone. The 800 Mhz. trunked two-way radio system uses several computer controlled radio repeaters to give you fast access to everyone in your talk-group, or it can give you the ability to make and receive phone calls without the rest of the talkgroup being included in the conversation.
You can also make one-to-one private calls to another two-way radio user in your talkgroup. The 45 watt mobile radios that work on this system provide significantly more talk range than any 3 watt cellular telephone. Western Communications, Inc. has SMR systems located at Rapid City, Lead, Pierre, Reliance, Gettysburg, and Mobridge.

450 Mhz. Community Repeater Systems The 450 Mhz. Community Repeaters give two-way radio users an economical method to communicate over a wider geographical area at less cost. The Community repeater user purchases or rents their mobile and portable radios and then pays a small monthly fee to use the use the mountain top repeaters to increase their two-way radio coverage area. Wide area Paging systems.
Western Communications, Inc. provides paging service throughout the Black Hills area and in the Pierre area. We can provide you with a pager that will either or both coverage areas. In addition, we can provide you with a pager that will work in Sioux Falls.
If you would like to be paged in an area that is not currently covered by our existing system, please contact us. We may be able to expand the reach of our paging system to provide you with needed coverage.
